Kibris Genc TVYalova manager Jem Djemal was a telephone guest on Turkish Cypriot television channel Kibris Genc TV’s Londra Spor programme.

The popular weekly show features a roundup of all the weekend’s action from TCFF 1st and 2nd Division matches whilst providing updates on each team.  When the focus turned to Yalova, our manager dialed in to share the latest information on our beloved club.

Speaking of Yellow Ones’ start to the season Djemal said, “We got off to bad start losing both our opening league games to Turkmenkoy and Besiktas respectively.  As you will be aware, new teams are only allowed to sign a maximum of five players whom played in the league last year and this rule affected us.  However, since the arrival of all our players in the October transfer window, we have turned a corner and are undefeated since the Besiktas match.  That is a run of 9 league and cup matches.”

Presenter Alp then commented on Yalova’s involvement in all competitions and asked which one to be Yalova’s key target.  “Our main objective is promotion to the Ezel First Division.  We are currently Third in the table, 6 points behind second placed Altinova, with a game in hand, and we’re yet to play them.  Should results go our way, we could end the first half of the season level on points with Altinova or better still in a promotional place”, Djemal said.

Alp then drew attention to First Division’s bottom club Trabzonspor not turning up for their last game against Yeni Bogazici, which if repeated another 4 times will result in them losing their top flight status.  Under these circumstances a team finishing Second Division in third place will also be promoted.  “Trabzonspor are a respected team with history in our league.  Our wish is that they resolve whatever issues they are facing and the season ends as it started, with 24 teams split over two divisions.  League rules are two teams go up and two come down, so the hope is that teams gain promotion on merit rather than default”, our manager concluded.

In conversation that followed studio panelists congratulated Yalova on their recent results and wished our club the best of luck in our chase for promotion.  Later on the show, a recorded interview with Mustafa Djemal was also aired.

Our vice-President said, "Yalova are playing both in the English and Turkish league and are involved in FIVE competitions in total.  We are very proud of our players and the way they are representing the club.  However, what's more important than sporting success is that the matches are played in the right spirit and for all clubs have respect each other.  After all, sport is friendship and brotherhood."
