Federation CupYalova crashed out the TCFF Federation Cup, going down 2-3 to BJK Kizilirmak in a heated cup tie.

The Yellow Ones started brightly with Corey Whitely seeing a free-kick crashed off the underside of the crossbar on 8 minutes.  This spurred the away team into action and on 19 minutes they had the ball in the back of the net to take the lead.

Yalova thought they had leveled on 42 minutes when Ahmet Cihanyandi slid in to convert Corey’s cross but somehow the referee’s assistant chalked the goal off for offside.  Unfortunately, we are unable to provide exact information on why the goal was ruled out as the we have been given conflicting messages.  The first was that Ahmet was offside and the other being Corey was offside when the ball was played to him.  To compound matters, the referee initially overruled his assistant to give the goal, but then had a change of heart after a four minute discussion.

Yalova did get their belated equalizer early in the second-half when the same duo combined once again.  Corey skipped two challenges to cross for Cihanyandi who looped his header into the top corner.  Unfortunately, the joy did not last for long as BJK Kizilirmak benefited from some slack defending to make it 2-1 and then added a third from the penalty spot on 76 minutes.  Captain Hakan Antmen pulled one back with 8 minutes to go, but try as they might Yalova could not find another equalizer.  Needless to say, who knows if it would have counted anyway…
