Last time the two sides met, Birkbeck brushed the Yellow Ones aside with an emphatic 7-2 score line to take their title winning chances into their own hands. However, a subsequent defeat to Elite Youth followed by Yalova’s 1-0 win over the same opponents saw the topsy turvy championship race ultimately end up in favour of the north Londoners.
This time around, things are very different. Newcomers Park View have all but won the league with a 100 per cent record leaving these two sides battling for second place. Running two teams is a challenge and competing in SIX competitions had taken its toll, particularly on Yalova’s Saturday team. However, a recent reshuffle has seen the Saturday side blossom in recent weeks, scoring 22 without reply in their last three matches.
Mustafa Baskal led the latest charge with a free-kick, penalty and long distance half-volley, along with a brace from Huseyin Djemal and one each from Stephen and Yavuz Mehmet. This win keeps Yalova second with 3 league games to go. The Saturday team also lead Saturday PM Cup Group C and have a semi-final to look forward to at the end of March.

A Mustafa Baskal hat-trick inspired Yalova to a memorable 0-7 triumph over last season’s title rivals Birkbeck College.
