GaziantepThe rescheduled league fixture against Gaziantep was finally played last night under a floodlit Haringey Borough FC’s Coles Park stadium in a game which can only be described as ‘lights, camera, action!’.

Football Federation representatives, the media and scores of fans all turned up to witness a fine Yalova display which took them another step closer to the lofty heights of the Ezel First Division.  However, the match was not all one way traffic.  In fact, Gaziantep had the better of the opening 15 minutes prompting a Yalova tactical reshuffle and position changes for right wing Corey Whitely and right back Erkan Hacet.

It wasn’t long before the change paid dividends and just 3 minutes later, Erkan opened the scoring with a well hit 20 yard dipping shot into the back of the net.  From this moment on, the game changed and Yalova took the upper hand.  With Duru Safak and Murat Coskun settling in at central midfield along with Nevzat Soyadli providing additional width on the left, Yalova began bossing the midfield.  This dominance paid off in the 36th minute where Huseyin Djemal curled in a free-kick from the edge of the box to double Yalova’s lead.  The only downside of a good first half was the injury to top goal scorer Ahmet Cihanyandi who was carried off with an ankle injury and replaced by Ahmet Topal who ironically was returning from an ankle injury.

With a 2 goal advantage, Yalova sat back a little in the second half and searched for the counterattack.  To assist this strategy, substitute Memduh Karacaoglu was introduced at right back, Corey moved up to right wing and Erkan switched to the left, and it wasn’t very long before the game was effectively over.  In the 59th minute Corey raced down the right before burying a fierce shot passed the keeper for 3-0 and just 10 minutes later the talented winger scored an almost carbon copy to declare the result and seal another three priceless points for his team.

Hasan Djemal came on from Huseyin late on to help stabilise the midfield and preserve another clean sheet, but by that time Yemi Atta, Hakan Antmen, David Smiley, Memduh and goalkeeper Ahmet Adalier had already put in yet another fantastic defensive display.  Next up Karadeniz Genclik on Sunday afternoon.
