Yalova are promoted to the first division after beating Dogan Turk Birligi 5-1. The Yellow Ones controlled the game from start to finish to come away triumphantly from another tricky fixture.
Huseyin Djemal opened the scoring on 19 minutes after outmuscling the Dogan defense to smash the ball home from the edge of the penalty area. Huseyin’s strike partner Shane Johnson added the second in the 32nd minute, forcing a goalkeeping error before rounding him off to tap in from a yard out. Just a minute later Murat Coskun scored perhaps the goal of the game, unleashing a lethal 30 yard strike in off the post to widen the door for his team to play first division football next season.
With the comfort of a 3-0 half-time lead, Yalova eased off a little in the second half but still managed to score a couple more. Substitute Nevzat Soyadli darted into the box to find the bottom corner for 4-0 in the 65th minute and Huseyin’s effort from 25 yards out made it 5-0 on 68. Dogan Turk Birligi got their consolation from the penalty spot with 12 minutes remaining, but by that time the Yalova champagne bottles were already on the ice.
At the full-time whistle the bubbly was flowing and high-pitched chanting was heard around Bullsmoor Lane as Yalova celebrated their return to top flight football. It had been a long hard fought season by the Sunday team, but the quality, spirit and character of the team took them past the finishing line in style. In the end they have achieved what they deserve and no one can begrudge them their success. Oyna YALOVA!
