Yalova win the cupYalova took home London Football League’s Federation Cup to prevent champions Park View from completing an illustrious double.

Last year’s Premier Division champions took on this year’s title winners in a final worthy of its billing and a credit to the London Football League competition.  The game was contested at the highest level by two quality sides eager to take home the trophy, but it was the underdogs of Yalova who perhaps created the better chances over 90 minutes.

Huseyin Yildiz and Hakan Antmen both came very close with close range headers which the Park View goal survived whilst Ahmet Adalier pulled off a wonder save 8 minutes from time to force the final into extra-time.

During the additional period, Shane Johnson almost nicked it but the Park View keeper did well and as no further clear-cut chances were created, the match went to a penalty shoot-out.

Huseyin Djemal converted Yalova’s opening penalty for 1-0, Park View replied 1-1.  Adrian’s spot kick was saved and Park View punished the miss 1-2.  Mustafa Baskal sent the keeper the wrong way and Ahmet changed direction to pull off a great save and level things once again, 2-2.  Yemi Atta kept his nerve to hammer home and Ahmet guessed right to give Yalova a massive advantage, 3-2.  Ibrahim Gursoy stepped up and buried his penalty to send his team and the supporters into ecstasy.

Both Ahmet and Ibo were mobbed by teammates and the celebrations could be heard around Wembley, even more so than Blackpool who won promotion to the Premier League less than half a mile away.

Winning the cup is great in itself but to win it from the champions who are semi-pro is extra special…  WELL DONE YALOVA!

Man-of-the-Match | Murat Coskun

Simply outstanding.  Covered every blade of grass on Wembley FC’s Vale Farm ground.  Goalkeeper Ahmet Adalier also gets a mention for his penalty heroics on a very memorable afternoon that is sure to go into Yalova folklore…
